Ben over at Varien indicates that they are hiring again. He tells have several contract and full time positions available for PHP developers.

If you’re looking for job doing web development with open-source tools, take a look at the job description. I’m told many of the projects are based on PHP, MySQL, and AJAX.

Varien did the site design for the Zend Framework portal, as well as the 2006 Zend PHP Conference.
